About Dr. Heather

Picture
The moment I decided to become a Naturopathic Doctor
nearly 20 years ago, my thought was,

"This is what I'm supposed to do."

Naturopathic Medicine has always felt more of a calling than a career.

My journey began with a science degree in
Biochemistry and Psychology from the University of Victoria.

Naturopathic school was another intensely transformative 4 years at the
Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC. I graduated in 2011.

After school, I enjoyed working in integrative clinics in Ottawa but my heart still belonged in BC where I grew up.   Moving to the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island over 5 years ago instantly felt like home.

The principles of naturopathic medicine reflect a way of living. I am grateful to have Naturopathic Medicine guiding my own life to support the health of my family.

I love to support, educate and empower my patients with everything I've learned from 9 years of school, over 10 years of clinical experience and real life wisdom as a mama!

Acorn to Oak Family Wellness is located in my home in Duncan, allowing me to balance & integrate what I love ~                                    being a Mom & a Doctor.

Why Family Naturopathic Medicine?

I live it every day as a mama of two little people!

I've always loved working with children but now I feel the urgency and calling to ensure they have the most optimal start to life we can offer.

I work with people of all stages of life. Together we address the underlying cause of illness and develop an individualized program to support healing of the whole person.

I respectfully acknowledge my privilege to peacefully live, work and raise my children on the sacred, ancestral, unceded traditional territories of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan), Me’ le’ xelh (Malahat),Ts'uubaa-asatx (Lake Cowichan), Spune’luxutth (Penelakut), Halalt, Stz’uminus and Lyackson people.
I acknowledge this with deep gratitude and commit to continued learning, listening and honouring the stories and truths of injustice of Indigenous People.
